Hampi


Hampi is a small village,situated on the banks of the River Tungabhadra ,in Bellary district of karnataka which is around 350 km from Bangalore.This place is also listed in the UNESCO world heritage sites.Hospet is the major city which is 12 km from Hampi. An overnight train connects Bangalore to Hospet. Visitors can stay at hospet and can travel to hampi .Buses run frequently between Hospet and Hampi.
Tungabhadra Dam is one of the  popular tourist attraction in Hospet. Recently  they stopped allowing people to go on the top of the Dam, due to security reasons.
Virupaksha temple is probably the Oldest temple in Hampi, Located on the Banks of River Tungabhadra.

The Archaeological Museum at kamalapuram, is a very well maintained museum displaying the sculptures,arms and armoury,copper plate inscriptions ,gold and copper coins and other antiquities from pre-historic,proto-historic  times.

    1. Yes, i stayed there for two nights. There are many budget hotels around hospet(i stayed in one, pai International, very near to hospet bus stop, an A/c room costed around 1000/- per day and as i said its just a budget hotel, not to expect much) and there are also the star types, Royal Orchids,(Check this groupon deal incase you are planning to go there sooner (http://getaways.groupon.co.in/heritage/hampi) and also many other hotels.
